Discussion Question # 3

What effect does the accelerated time scheme have on the play’s development? Is it plausible that a love story of this magnitude could take place so quickly?

My Pockets

  • wallet
    • I always keep my wallet with me just in case I need money, or my school I.D. I also have some phone numbers in my wallet since I don't have a cell phone.
  • permit
    • My permit is essential to have at all times, so that I can drive. I need to drive so that I can log hours and get my license.

TKAM rewrite & comments

TKAM Paragraph

Atticus is fair to all people. He defends colored people without a problem, and respects them. " Cheatin' a colored man is ten times worse than cheatin' a white man." This shows that Atticus is willing to admit that colored people aren't viewed very well. He also treats them with respect, because if he didn't he would be a hypocrite. Therefore Atticus is fair to all people.

Original:
Atticus is an affable person. He is very easy to talk to. For example,” do you defend niggers' I asked him that evening.’ of curse I do. Don't say nigger, Scout. That’s common.'" Scout was not worried about asking Atticus this. Another example is,”‘what’s rape?' I (Scout) asked him (Atticus) that night." Again, Scout is not afraid to ask Atticus this question. This shows that Atticus isn't hard to talk to. Even things that are not often talked about do not cause Scout to shy away from discussing them with Atticus. Atticus will talk to almost anyone about anything.

Comments:

#1) I think that this is a good paragraph but it isn’t talking about the court scene. But you are right about how Scout will ask anyone about anything. Kaylee

#2) I also think that it should talk about the court scene but it’s still a really good paragraph. Those are good examples of how easy he is to talk to. Jess J

#3) You use all the rules very appropriately, but what does being a friendly, flexible person have to do with Scout being open with him, add a sentence that connects that together otherwise it sounds super great!!!

#4) I agree with your paragraph and now that you rewrote it, it sounds very good! Good job!
-Jess D. :)

#5) I think that it is really good now. It looks good. Kaylee

Good morning!

Good morning!
How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good.
To begin, Friday and Saturday we had a meet. I was in the tab. room. It was very enjoyable. I was able to know who won or lost right away, and I also learned how everything is put together. I thought it was very interesting, but I will admit it was extremely boring at times. I cant wait for the rest of the season!
Next, I was able to relax. Well only for a little while, since it was Sunday. On Sundays we have small group a few hours after church. We needed to clean the house. We also adjusted furniture.
Finally, yesterday I drove around for about a half hour looking for Sadder Madder, m moms new dog. then I made paper flowers for a Mexico both. Then I went to a Chris Tomlin concert. I REALLY enjoyed this. It was a blast even though I am really tired. It was worth it.

Descusion

I think Scout is mature for her age, and should be able to begin to understand the rape case. She may not yet be able to fully understand it though. Scout is growing up.

I am reading Flowers For Algernon. I don't want to assume anything yet, but so far it is pretty interesting. Find the reviews.
